Addressing Ward 5 Concerns

Tell me what matters most to you and Ward 5 residents. Your voice is important, and I am here to listen and act.

Lobbying for our seniors

The only seniors' residence in Ward 5 is Rixon Manor and there is a long waiting list for accommodation. We have a growing and aging population in Ward 5 and we need to be able to meet their affordable housing needs.

I believe there is an opportunity for Rixon Manor to be expanded with the help of all levels of government--municipal, regional, provincial and federal.

I want to lobby for support to expand this facility and certainly, any efforts in that direction should be done with the support and input of current and prospective residents.

Managing taxes and stormwater charges

High taxes and stormwater management charges are a significant concern for Ward 5 residents, as they often do not reflect the reality of our community. I am committed to encouraging a responsible fiscal culture at the town that respects taxpayer dollars. My goal is to ensure that our financial policies are fair and accurately represent the needs and circumstances of Ward 5.

Upgrading infrastructure and services

Station Road needs to be rehabilitated and residents in the Woodlands Subdivision are eager to have a safe walkway along Old Homestead Road to access Station Road and the downtown area.

The closure of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has left a gap in local financial services, and I will lobby diligently to get a CIBC terminal installed in one of our retail stores, restoring essential banking access for our community members.

Additionally, I am deeply committed to ensuring that any beach upgrades for Holmes Point Park are reviewed and approved by residents, ensuring community satisfaction with these vital improvements.

My lifelong commitment to Ward 5

I have lived in Ward 5 my whole life and have lobbied and advocated for important issues for this community through my formerly owned newspaper and deputations to council. This background gives me an unparalleled understanding of our local challenges and opportunities, and the experience and knowledge needed to effectively lobby for Ward 5.
